Kit Hinrichs is a renowned and legendary designer, Among many of his accolades, he’s recognized as recipient of prestigious medal from AIGA.
For Kit, design should be about telling stories, having clear, concise meaning. Kit talks about his influences and his approach. He advocates to learn from different sources other than design in order to maintain a fresh outlook. He also understands the importance of business and the ideal client relationship. He mentions that one of the problems is that too many business rely on research and data and are to restrictive with their business decisions. He illustrates some of the work he did for Disney and how their dynamic was instrumental for their success. Kit also talks about the importance of always learning and doing work that expands the mind.

The language of color video teaches about the color theory, best practices, and application when it comes to design. An important reference point for all designers is the color wheel. The color wheel is composed by three major colors which are called Primary, those are Red, blue, and yellow. These colors are the basis for all other colors. Hue, saturation, and value are important components of color. Hue is color, saturation and value deal with the variation of the color as in how dark or bright it is. Designers should also be aware of RGB and CMYK and its different functions. RGB works for digital projects and CMYK for print. The video also teaches about the qualities of building attractive color schemes and palettes. One example is using complementary colors that stand on opposite ends of color wheel. The video also emphasizes the importance of color and how it can stimulate a mood or hold meaning.
